I LOVE SPIRIT DAYS WEEK
Hey guys! So it's time for a most wonderful spirit week in celebration of the Hallmark holiday, Valentines Day. What a great week to make sure you show all of your love for your friends, family, school, and more. To help make sure that everyone makes the best of this week and spreads the love, we want to announce the 2009 VALENTINES WEEK THEME: "I LOVE SPIRIT WEEK"

Start off the week by celbrating one of the most wonderful things known to man: sleep. Roll right out of bed and come to school in your most favorite and most appropriate pajamas! Bring a blanket or a pillow! Don't bother with your hair or makeup! Just don't fall asleep in class and save that for break!

Next, show your appreciation to the wonderful Hazen staff by dressing up as your favorite member! It can be an administrator, a custodian, a pencil-clad Mr. Viles, an extremely lively Mrs. Ames, or even a frizbee weilding Mr. Pollard. Who knows? It's all up to you! Once again, respectfullness is key to the week. =)

Onto Wednesday where you will showcase your ideal future or current job! Show off your part-time job uniform no matter how embarassing! Don't forget to shine that nametag! If you don't currently have a job then dress like one you'd love to have. A Red Robin, Cold Stone, Build-A-Bear, and Hazen Pool employee will already be gracing the halls with their beautiful uniforms so don't be afraid to break yours out! If you're unemployed, a sailor is one of many ideal future jobs.

We all know you love your best friend, so show them your appreciation and let everyone know how much you love them. Dress up like your best friend or coordinate outfits with your best friend! Either way you're letting them know that they're important to you. =) P.S. Not everyone has one best friend, so you can always pick a few!

Last but not least... show your love for Hazen! Break out the green, gold, and blue once again and show your pride in being a Highlander!
This begins next week, so don't forget to find your outfits this weekend! Much love to all of you Highlanders.

Happy Holidays!
Send your own ElfYourself eCards
Nothing like a little snow and a couple late starts to put you in the mood for break. Well remember, Highlanders, it's only a couple days more. Hang in there and do your best. Hope everyone had a great tolo and of course we hope everyone has a great winter break and a wonderful holiday season!
P.S. For the next couple days you can check the status of Hazen at http://www.schoolreport.org/ . All you have to do is scroll down to the Renton School District and check out the updates. Although they don't usually update until rather late in the night, we're all generally doing homework at that hour anyway. ;)

Hey Highlanders!
Lorilyn here, and I just want to say how proud I am of all the kids who came so early this morning to the Walk with Champions out at Seward Park! We raised over $2,200 for Special Olympics Washington, and met students from other schools in our area. Thank you Hazen for all of your support! This was the first year this event has taken place, and we hope to improve on this event in the coming years!
Are you ready for this Highlanders?!?!
HAZEN HIGH SCHOOL'S FIRST EVER ACTION WEEK!
Monday:Silly Walks Day
Walk around the halls in the most absurd ways you can think of!
Tuesday: British Accent Day

Recap of Turkey Basket Drive
I would just like to start off with a big "Congratulations, Hazen" for all your hard work these past couple of weeks.
Hazen's final count of turkey baskets was 106, a tad short of our record set last year, but we should still celebrate for the baskets we did raise. Many families were extremely appreciative of our efforts.
The leadership class has pondered why this year was not as "successful" even though any drive that raises products/funds is considered successful. We realize that there was a lot of unfamiliarity with the drive considering the amount of new staff members this year. There should have been clearer communication on our part. We also think that the short notice played a key role in the lack of productivity for the duration of the drive. These are all things to remember for next year's.
Any comments/feedback from you guys? How'd your third period class do? Were your teachers familiar with the project?
Tell us how you feel about turkey baskets in general. Being one of the heads of this project, I would really value your opinion.
Regardless, I hope everyone had a great holiday. I look forward to the December festivities including Tolo and Winter Break! Hope to hear from you soon.

Walk with Champions Event!
Hey guys- Megan here :).
It's my pleasure to post our first news break on the blog.
Tell your fellow Highlanders about the site!
If you have not heard already Hazen High School is hosting an event for Special Olympics Washington called "Walk with Champions" on Sunday, December 7th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Seward Park in Seattle.
The walk will be styled much like Relay for Life which takes place in June. We will walk the loop of the park (2.4 miles) together starting at 9 a.m. There will be speakers and a short program following with food. Everyone and anyone can sign up! So far over one hundred walkers have registered, most not being from Hazen High. I know you guys don't want to be outnumbered by other schools across the state when we're hosting the event! Bring your family, your friends, your neighbors, your dog! It'll be fun, easy, and you can receive service/civic hours for the event! It's NHS sponsored, as well!
To register visit: http://www.renton.wednet.edu/hazen/index.html
Click on the "Walk with Champions" link at the top of the page.
You can either mail in the forms, turn them into either myself (Megan Yuasa), Lorilyn Roller, or Lian Louie; OR into Mr. McCabe's room (243). It's not too late! We are still accepting forms even though the due date listed on the form says November 18th.
Forms are also available on either myself, Lorilyn, or Lian; or in Mr. McCabe's room.
*All donations/money will be turned in at the actual event. All proceeds to benefit Special Olympics WA*
Thanks guys! Please spread the word and we hope to see you there in a couple weeks!!!
